What We’re Writing
With the completion of The Art of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, we have returned to work on other projects.
Issue no. 32 of The Tolkien Collector is being printed and will be posted soon.
Much new data has been collected for a second edition of Wayne’s J.R.R. Tolkien: A Descriptive Bibliography, as well as corrigenda for the first edition (1993, covering works to mid-1992), but it is still premature to predict a date of publication. Oak Knoll Books expressed an interest in publishing a second edition, but much time has passed since they did so, and Wayne will have to reinitiate the discussion.
We are continuing work on a book about the artist Pauline Baynes. Earlier conceived as an annotated catalogue of our own collection, we are crafting it now as a fuller bibliography, based also on the Pauline Baynes archive which came to the Chapin Library at Williams College in February 2009. In turn, our existing bibliographic data are helping to create a detailed inventory of the archive (some 3,000 works of art, plus the artist's business papers and working library of 2,000 volumes).
We are also writing occasional blog posts.
